Born and raised in the small province of Newfoundland, Wendy brings a little Atlantic Canadian charm to the team.
She spent much of her childhood in her grandfather's fishing boat chasing humpbacks and icebergs in Twillingate, NL, hoping to get lucky enough to "jig" a codfish that would make her day.
She's worked in all areas of tourism – hotels, airlines and international tour operators – however her heart always wanted to bring her back to Canada.
It's a special place with a lot to offer from coast to coast, with some hidden gems tucked all over its vast landscape.
Wendy now wants to share it with fellow travelers, particularly Atlantic Canada, her first home.
What is your favourite place in Canada?
My favorite place in Canada is Quebec City. With its perfect mix of history and culture, it truly feels like you're traveling down a street in Europe! The secret alleyways that have been turned into amazing restaurants and cafes only leads to it allure. Here, you can feel like you've taken a trip overseas without ever leaving Canada!
What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once in your life?
Everyone should experience a whale watching tour at least once in their lives, to see these majestic creatures at home in the open ocean. Whales are just as curious as us. Being able to see them breach or spyhop out of the water is an experience that stays with you forever.
What is your best travel memory in Canada?
Seeing the icebergs in Newfoundland. Nothing takes your breath away quite like getting up close and personal with an iceberg. To see the beautiful blues and to hear the creaks and cracks... sometimes if you're lucky you'll get to see it flip over and change shape right before your eyes. It really feels like a living creature to see it floating in the ocean! If you get close enough you may be able to collect some “bergy bits” (small pieces of ice that have cracked off) to enjoy in your drink later that day. I am still in awe of the age and stories these floating mountains can tell.
