Located in southern BC, the Okanagan region is one of Canada’s warmest and houses over 70 wineries, producing around 95% of the province’s total wine.
An unsurprisingly popular holiday destination for BC and Alberta locals, the main centers are Kelowna, Penticton and Osoyoos, but charming Naramata is located close to the Okanagan Mountain Park and is a quieter base.
Okanagan Region INTRODUCTION
Through the summer months, a hot sun transforms the countless sandy beaches of the Okanagan lakes as a variety of outdoor and water activities spring into action. The climate also suits grape cultivation: the Okanagan is the country’s premier wine region, quickly gaining international recognition for its variety of grapes – particularly for its excellent ice wine. Any wine tasting tour will be spectacular here, set to the backdrop of Lake Okanagan. If you want to take part in other activities, there are also seasonal golf courses and ski resorts set amongst rolling hills.
